Hello Fellow Oakwood Families!
It was so good to kick off another season of Sunday programming and I am looking forward to Wednesday Night Community starting this week, too! I’ll be enjoying dinner with my family from The Café beforehand; come early and join us!
Thank you to everyone who already completed the Consent Form. Each child participating in any Oakwood programming needs to have an updated one each year. If you have not filled one out, please take a few minutes to complete yours.
Wednesday Night Community – Armor of God
Sept. 13 – Nov. 15 - Preschoolers – 5th graders are invited and are encouraged to bring a friend (or 2). Kids will learn that when we put on God’s armor each day and rely on His power, we can stand firm against anything that comes our way.
- Preschoolers will be dropped off and picked up in room 217 (the preschool room).
- K-5th will be dropped off and picked up in the Kids Zone.
- Please have an adult pick up kids promptly at 8 p.m. with the guardian receipt.
Sundays
Sunday, Sept. 17
This week preschoolers – 5th graders will be in Matthew 22 when the pharisees tried testing, or tricking Jesus, and we get to see Jesus’ wisdom come through in how He responds. Take a few minutes and read through Matthew 22 together and take a few minutes to learn this units’ Bible Verse.
The fall offering project will go toward Operation Christmas Child shoebox shipping fees. Last year, kids collected enough to ship more than 20 boxes – think we can double it? In November, K-5th grade kids will be invited to a packing party for these shoeboxes (more details coming soon).
Opportunities to Serve
- Pray for the volunteer team and kids!
- Consider volunteering! Email Ashley for details. Current needs are in:
- Toddler room on Sundays
- Substitute in all areas Sundays and Wednesdays
- Special Events (the upcoming Community Raking Competition could use some help!)
- Classroom and supply prep (can be done during the week as needed)
- Preschool volunteers starting Sundays in January

- Sunday, Sept. 24 is Bible Sunday for 2nd graders. They will be gifted a new Bible to use at home and in class. The 2nd grade teachers will be intentionally teaching kids how to navigate and read the Bible throughout the year.
