Students: Week of Sept. 26, 2022

by Daryl Donovan on September 27, 2022

Hello Parents and Students!

We are having an awesome time at OSM (Oakwood Student Ministry)!  I am so grateful for the more than 20 volunteers who are helping make this ministry thrive during this interim time!

This week, on Wednesday night, we keep digging into Philippians!

Our passage for Sept. 28 – Philippians 1:20-30

Theme: Wisely Bold About Jesus

Here are our discussion questions:

  1. Paul’s hope was that he would always be bold for Christ. Bold means to be confident, courageous and willing to take risk. What does it mean to be bold for Christ? Are you bold for Christ?
  2. Paul wanted his life to bring glory to Christ whether he lived or died. (Remember, he was in prison facing death.) The word glory means to shine, or to make something known to others. Paul wanted Jesus to shine in His life. Why was it so important for Paul to bring glory to Christ? How can Jesus shine in our lives?
  3. Paul said that to live is Christ, to die is gain. Why was Paul struggling as to which was better…to live or die? Was he thinking about heaven?
  4. He finally decided that he needed to stick around. Why did he finally decide that to stay alive was best?
  5. Paul encouraged them to stand firm, not be afraid, and to work together side by side. He warned them that they would suffer for being Christians. What does it look like to stand firm in your faith? How do we work together side by side?
  6. More Christians are being put to death for their faith in the world today than any time in history. Would you be willing to die for Christ?
  7. Do you suffer for being a Christian?
  8. How can you live this week in a way that shows you are a follower of Jesus?

Also, our team is so excited about our Fall Middle School Retreat. Read all the details here.

Keep Following Jesus,  <><

OSM Volunteer Interim Coordinator

Here's a note from our Sunday volunteer coordinator, Chris Schmidt..
Hello parents,
Last weekend we introduced some opportunities for students to serve in OSM. There are a few opportunities summarized in the linked parent communication. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to volunteer. Also, we will be continuing in the 10 commandments and will be working thru honoring our parents. The linked outline is here.

Thank you all
