Hello OSM Parents,
Here is what is coming up for OSM:
Wednesday Night Community, Feb. 7
Middle School
Middle School students will be going through NUA: Origins, from RightNow Media. Episode five explores the Bible. It is estimated that over 4 billion copies have been distributed around the world. We want to show how unique the Bible is and that ultimately the belief is that this book is God’s message to the world. This episode includes a special 5 minute Bible Animation Overview. If you would like to see this lesson you can find it, and all of the others, at this link: https://app.rightnowmedia.org/en/content/details/723072?session=trailer
High School
High School students will meet in the lower level youth room (behind the welcome desk) at 6:30 p.m. and are on week four of a nine-week spiritual reality series called GOSPEL Journey Maui. This video-based series is all about real questions and real conversations. Seven young strangers with very different spiritual worldviews and a Preacher/Wannabe-Surfer hung out for a week in Maui, diving into life’s biggest questions: Is there a higher power? What is the purpose of life? What happens after we die? And more... Ultimately it boiled down to this: Can everyone be right? Each episode follows the cast on their journey to discover the truth. You can find the week four lesson linked here.
Sunday Morning, Feb. 11
We are continuing on through The Thread series. This week we will discover why Samuel anointed David, and you can find a parent letter linked here. Please use the handout to walk through some questions with your student after the lesson.
OSM Football Watch Party Feb. 11
Join us this Sunday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for a Football Watch Party at the Anderson’s home where we will come together with food and football. Volunteers and Students will have an opportunity to watch the big game. Too late for you? That is OK! Come for part of the evening. RSVP if you plan on coming, and bring a dish to pass. Details on the link below.

Upcoming Mexico Mission Trip Meetings Feb. 25
2nd Meeting: Feb. 25 noon – 2 p.m.
3rd Meeting: March 10 noon – 2 p.m.
4th Meeting: April 21 noon – 2 p.m.
Fundraising Option for Mexico Mission Trip
Two of our Mexico team youth for this year's Mexico Mission Trip are coming from Arizona, where their family owns the Goodruby Christian Bookstore. Their family is helping our team to raise support for the trip by making a donation of 20% of all purchases made with the coupon code "Mexico" or "Mexico24" from now through the end of May. The code "Mexico" will designate that the purchase is to support the Mexico trip, but if your order totals more than $50 the code "Mexico24" will also give you free shipping for your purchase. I Spy Easter - OSM Volunteer Opportunity
March 8, 2024, TIMES VARY BASED ON ACTIVITY
Oakwood Kids Ministry will be hosting I Spy Easter, an event for families with toddlers – 5th graders. Oakwood Student Ministry will have the opportunity to serve the kids and families during the event. There are many opportunities to serve, including set up, clean up, running a station, or various other activities. Volunteer opportunities can also be found here.
Volunteers Needed
We could use a few more volunteers to help OSM activities run smoothly. Wednesday nights could use some substitutes, especially a male, and potentially another regular volunteer. There is room for another female on Sundays as well. We have a lot of opportunities to serve youth in a variety of ways. This could be hosting events, making food for events, leading worship (even occasionally), or being in prayer for this ministry. If you know someone who may be interested in serving in this way, please reach out to them or send their info my way and Alan H. or I will reach out.
