6th-8th grade: Week of April 25, 2022

by Myles Hanson on April 26, 2022

Hey there, families!

It's with sadness and joy to let you all know that Nicole and I are following God's call for us to move to Minnesota. We'll be leaving Wisconsin and my employment at Oakwood Church on June 5th. We are sad to be leaving friends and family, but we are so excited to know that we're living in God's will with this change. It's been a great six years, thanks for all the joy and care!

Since Nicole and I will be out out of Wisconsin in June, the middle and high school mission trips have been cancelled. Any deposits that have been paid will be returned. And our middle school students are still able to help lead "Out of the Boat" on June 22nd if they're interested!"

APRIL 27 | 6:30-8 PM

Wednesday night is our next discussion on dating! We're actually looking at the promises of being single and what the Bible has to say about the gift of singleness. Not quite what our students are assuming a dating discussion will be about, but the discussion is worth having so that students don't feel like they're "missing out" if they don't date in middle and high school. Be sure to ask your student about what the Bible says on being single!

MAY 1 | 9-10 AM

Sunday morning we get to hear from Nicole! She's going to share with the students about praying for our friends and family who are not Christians yet. We're spending time through the end of the school year talking about doing our faith with others and praying for our friends with others is a great place to start! See them there!

We have two events left before the school year is over, save the dates!

MAY 20 | 5:30-8:30 PM

1.   May 20th is "Survivor: Middle School Edition"! This is a team based athletic and strategic game night run by Scott Ellis based on the show "Survivor" on CBS. For our event we all be playing the entire night and competing on teams for the entire event. It's going to be a great time, we start at 5:30 here at Oakwood and end at 8:30! Sign up here before May 13th.

JUNE 1 | 6:30-8 PM

2.   And on June 1st we're going to celebrate our seniors and our students who have completed goals over the school year. We'll be around the bonfire pit from 6:30 - 8:00pm. This will also be our last shindig before Nicole and I move to Minnesota. We'd love to have your student join us for this celebration and hang out.

And that's everything for now! Please let me know if you have any questions or things you'd like to chat about!
