God is Love
(Parable of the Prodigal Son—Luke 15:11-32)

I was talking with my husband about the Parable of the Prodigal Son, and he said something that surprised me—a lot of people who have no church affiliation, and know little about the Bible, are familiar with this story. Why is that?

Could it be that this story, told by Jesus over 2000 years ago, still speaks to people’s hearts today? Can people still relate?

Yes!

God loves us and created each of us to be in relationship with Him. We need Him! But, like the son in the story, we all sin and make a mess of things. I know I have. I remember one particular time feeling so low, burdened by the weight of my sin, knowing I had nothing to offer. But God, rich in mercy, graciously welcomed me—like the father in this story—into His loving arms. Because of God’s great love, I am forgiven and my relationship with Him is restored!

I pray that our kids will know that God loves them so much, (John 3:16, 1 John 4:9-10) and nothing can ever separate them from His love. (Romans 8:38-39)

May we all live confidently in this truth—God is Love—and share this truth with everyone by the way we live and by the things we say. (1 John 4:15-17)

God loves you!
