Hello Fellow Oakwood Families!
Just like that it is October. My family has settled into a comfortable back to school rhythm, and I hope yours has too. When I drop my kids off at school, I pray over them. Sometimes silently, sometimes aloud with them, and often with Joshua 1:9 in mind (one of my favorite verses). Whether your kids are with you all day or in the hands of a trusted loved one or teacher, I pray you and your kids are strong and courageous and remember that God is with you wherever you go. Use this free printable coloring page to enjoy a brain break with your kids.
Wednesday Night Community
Kids will go back to the first lie in scripture in Genesis 2:15-17 and 3. Reading this it can be easy to see that the snake was tempting Eve and lying to her, but often in real life it can be difficult to know what is true. This week we will learn about the Belt of Truth and how we can use God’s word to seek His truth.
Please have an adult pick up promptly at 8 p.m. with their guardian receipt.
Sunday Morning
In Matthew 25, we will continue learning about Jesus’ warnings. This week Jesus warns about not acting. A good word for kids to know for this week is Stewardship: the responsibility to manage all the resources of life for the glory of God, acknowledging God as Provider.
This week the volunteers will have a refresher on fire safety to ensure that everyone is safe in the event of a fire at church. Classes will not be having a drill, but please talk with your kiddos about the importance of following the instructions of a trusted adult.
Kids are rocking the offering project for Operation Christmas Child! The goal is $400.
Opportunities to Serve
- Loan to Oakwood your labeled raking supplies for the Community Raking Event. Additional volunteers are needed for set up and clean up the day of the event. Of course, you can also register to rake and/or bring your famous chili! Hurry and you could get an Oakwood hat!
- Consider volunteering! Email Ashley for details on how you can use your gifts in Kids Ministry. There are needs with toddlers and preschoolers on Sundays.
Upcoming
- Sunday, Oct. 15 is Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day. Consider a note, picture, or face-to-face thank you to all Kids Ministry volunteers that impact your kids throughout the week.
Blessings!
