Hello Fellow Oakwood Families!
This week at church was so heartwarming, seeing kids excited to hug their friends and run into their classrooms and meet a few new faces.
Thank you to everyone who already completed the Consent Form. If you have not filled one out, please take a few minutes to complete yours here. There will be devices available again this Wednesday near the check-in stations.
Wednesday Night Community
Last week was a fun first with playing Oodles of Noodles, and having introductions to each other and the Armor of God. This week we will dig deeper into the Armor of God and learn that when we put God’s armor on each day and rely on His power, we can stand firm against anything that comes our way. K-5th graders will be in Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ephesians 6:10-18. Preschoolers will hear the story of how David used God’s Armor to fight Goliath. Here is a video of David and Goliath from The Jesus Storybook Bible that your little ones will enjoy! My kids enjoy the British accent on the audiobook and videos.
- Preschoolers will be dropped off and picked up in room 217 (the preschool room).
- K-5th will be dropped off and picked up in the Kids Zone.
Please have an adult pick up promptly at 8:00 with their guardian receipt.

Sunday Morning
This week preschoolers – 5th graders will be in Matthew 2 continuing with the theme of Jesus’ warnings. Jesus warned the people about not loving. Following the rules, giving offering, and being outwardly kind to others is not enough; we need to love doing these things within our heart.
In large group, 2nd graders will be gifted a new Bible to use at home and in class. The 2nd grade teachers will be intentionally teaching kids how to navigate and read the Bible throughout the year while the kids’ reading skills are blossoming.
The fall offering project for Operation Christmas Child shoebox shipping fees. Is off to a great start with about $50 collected! That’s about 5 shoeboxes shipped around the world! In November, K-5th kids will be invited to a packing party for these shoeboxes (check back for details).
Opportunities to Serve
- Pray for the volunteer team and kids!
- The Community Raking Competition is still in need of a few people to help the day of the event (welcoming people, setting up, cleaning up), and we could use some extra raking tools and supplies for teams to use.
- Consider volunteering! Email Ashley for details on how you can use your gifts in Kid’s Ministry.
Blessings!
