Hello Fellow Oakwood Families!
Here at Oakwood, we recognize that you, the parents and family, play a crucially influential role in your child’s faith journey. We want to partner with you and offer classes, events, service opportunities and resources for you to utilize as part of your child’s spiritual walk. Oakwood has a free Library available on the lower level with an abundance of resources for all ages. Take the time to stop and view the updated Family Life Resource Bulletin Board (upper hallway between the Worship Center and High School Room hallway) for some featured resources available in the Library. While you are at the board, grab a few event cards to invite a friend and keep checking back for new events and recommendations.
Last week classroom volunteers had a fire-safety refresher. As a reminder to parents, in the event of a fire, please do not attempt to pick up your child at his/her classroom. Leaders will promptly guide all kids out the nearest door to the blacktop behind the playground. Leaders will then check over attendance and parents can collect their child(ren) there, with their guardian receipt. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ashley.
Wednesday Night Community
We will continue learning about the full Armor of God by putting on the Armor of Godliness. In large and small group time, kids will learn how the armor relates to Gideon in Judges 6:1-32. They will also have time in the gym, and have a fun activity that will help bring the lesson to life.
Sunday Morning
Kids are rocking the offering project for Operation Christmas Child and have already gathered $160.28! This project goes through Nov. 12.
This week we start a new unit with a new memory verse. Can you learn the verse alongside your kids? During the next several weeks, kids will be learning about the events leading up to Jesus’ arrest starting in Matthew 26 when he was anointed with oil. Read ahead and see Mary express her love to Jesus through an act of worship by pouring expensive oil on His feet.
Upcoming
- Saturday, Oct. 14 is an ALL Oakwood Community Raking Competition. Don’t want to rake? Join the chili cook-off part of the event – you can enter a crockpot of chili or just come eat and enjoy fellowship.
- Sunday, Oct. 15 is Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day. Consider a note, picture, or face-to-face thank you to all Kid’s Ministry volunteers (Sundays and Wednesdays) that impact your kids this week.
Blessings!
