6th-8th grade: Week of May 9, 2022

by Myles Hanson on May 10, 2022

Hey families! Is summer here already?! It's great to have some warm weather in the forecast this week; my flip flops are super happy!

MAY 11 | 6:30-8 PM

Wednesday night we're going to start a few conversations about worldview and the lies presented in pop culture. This week will be all about worldview, something every single person has and is unique to every single person. We'll talk about how we interpret data, what a Biblical worldview entails, and a challenge to put on the worldview glasses of Jesus. We'll also be having this discussion around the campfire! Be sure to have your student dressed appropriately for the weather.

MAY 15 | 9-10 AM

Sunday morning we're going to look at ways to intersect our faith in our normal everyday lives. We're looking at this to help our students have faith conversations with friends and family as a normal part of their lives, not a special event or presentation. We'll be looking at the story of Jesus and the woman at the well to see how Jesus wove faith talk into His conversations. Be sure to ask your student about this chat!

MAY 20 | 5:30-8:30 PM

May 20th is "Survivor: Middle School Edition"! Scott Ellis is getting everything together for a team based, competitive game night with team games, challenges, and mini games in between it all. Unlike the TV show, students will not be voted out and will always be playing on a team. There will be prizes, great fun, and healthy competition. Your student doesn't need to be athletic to compete, there will be plenty of puzzles to do as well; in short there's a spot for everyone! Sign up by May 16th at the link here.

JUNE 1 | 6:30-8 PM

And our last event of the school year is on the 1st of June. Youth group is from 6:30 - 8:00pm and both middle and high school groups will be celebrating the 8th grade and senior classes as well as those who accomplished goals over the school year. We'll have s'mores, encourage each other, and enjoy one last shindig together before Nicole and I's move to Minnesota.

From 7:45 - 8:30pm of this evening the celebration will be opened up to the entire church! Bring the whole family and a lawn chair to spend time reminiscing with everyone and sharing stories. Sounds like there might even be some dessert for the time. Hope to see you all there for Nicole and I's sendoff.

Looking forward to another awesome week together. Please let me know if you have any questions about things coming up!
