“I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.” - Luke 2:10
Do you remember what your life was like before you heard the good news about Jesus?
Have you ever wanted to make a lasting difference in the life of another person? Could you see yourself making an eternal impact in the lives of not just individuals, but whole families, villages... even an entire people group?
As part of our Entrusted ministry theme this year, we want to work together to share the gospel with unreached people groups. This holiday season, from Oct. 31 - Dec. 31, we're gathering donations for Ending Scripture Poverty.
What Is Ending Scripture Poverty?
ReachGlobal, the mission ministry of the EFCA, is partnering with New Generations to share audio versions of the Bible with oral people groups around the world. These groups primarily communicate orally, instead of with written words, so having an audio version of the Bible is critical for them to discover a relationship with Him as they listen and respond to key stories from creation to Christ in their own heart language!
What's Our Goal?
The cost for the entire translation and audio recording process per language is $5,000. As a church, we'd like to raise $25,000 to help reach five people groups: the Oromo Gabra, Samburu, Rendille, Ilchamus and Daasanach. (Click each people group’s name to read more about them from Joshua Project). Additionally, stop by the Upper Lobby at Oakwood to view the Ending Scripture Poverty display and pick up prayer cards!
We are praying with you and anticipating our God will do “great and mighty things” (Jeremiah 33:3).
How to Give
First, we encourage you to pray about how God wants you to contribute to Ending Scripture Poverty. Then, you can give one of two ways:
- Online: Give through the Oakwood website. In the "Fund" drop down, select Ending Scripture Poverty.
- In-person: Write Ending Scripture Poverty or "ESP" on your check's memo line or on the offering envelope. You can place those in the offering box at the back of the Worship Center or drop it off in the Oakwood office during the week.
