Jesus is Alive!
(John 19:38-21; Matthew 27:62-28:15; Luke 24)
When Jesus died on the cross, Satan thought he had won. God’s Son was dead! But God was still working. Jesus did more than die in our place as the perfect Lamb of God—Jesus conquered death. Jesus came back to life—and crushed Satan just as God said He would in Genesis 3:15!! Hallelujah!!
This week we’ll be talking about Jesus’ resurrection and the truth that Jesus is Alive! And because Jesus is alive, we can have eternal life with God, too!
I’ve loved reading the accounts of Jesus’ resurrection in the Gospels. No one understood when Jesus said He would rise again after three days. People didn’t know what to think when Jesus’ tomb was empty. Some doubted friends who had seen Jesus with their own eyes. Others didn’t recognize Jesus when He walked and talked with them. When Jesus appeared in a room, the ones who knew Him best thought He was a ghost!
I am so grateful for the humanity of the disciples. There are times when I too, don’t understand what Jesus is telling me in the Bible; times when I too, don’t know what God is doing; times I too, doubt His love and times I too, don’t recognize God at work. God is so patient and loving! He continually pursues and shows up in unexpected ways letting me know He is alive and loves me deeply.
