Israel's Grumbling in the Wilderness

This Sunday, we’ll continue exploring the wanderings of Israel in the desert. We will be covering Numbers 11, where Israel complains against Moses and wishes that they were back in Egypt eating all the food that they used to eat. Their ingratitude led them to led them to long for something other than God’s provision. Even amid their grumbling, God still provided quail for them to eat, showing that he is a mighty and merciful God who will meet our deepest needs even when we don’t deserve it.

The Family Connection Page is attached here. We encourage you to use the discussion questions to spark meaningful conversations with your student at home!

Wednesday Night Community: Life in Six Words

We’re in a new series titled “Life in Six Words.” This series, based on a resource from Dare 2 Share Ministries, is all about equipping students to share the gospel of Jesus with their peers.

This week, we will be talking about how our good deeds can never take away our sin. No matter how good we think we are or how many good things we have done, it can never pay the price to take away our sin. We will explore this truth with scriptures like Rom. 3:19-20, Mat. 5:17-20, and Ex. 33:18-23.

Students will be challenged and equipped to have gospel conversations with their friends and peers this week. Join us in praying for God to do mighty things in Lake Country through your students this year!

Middle School Gatherings

The next middle school gathering at the Feder’s is Friday, Feb. 7, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. This is a great opportunity for our middle school students to build relationships, have fun, and ask great spiritual questions. Food and snacks will be provided.

Football Watch Party

The big game is now just two weeks away! Oakwood Student Ministry is hosting a Football Watch Party at the Anderson's house on Sunday, Feb. 9. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. — plan to arrive between 4:45 and 5 p.m. to get settled before the game starts.

What to Bring: Please bring a side dish to share (chips, dips, drinks, etc.).

Location: Joe and Sonja Anderson’s house (address in the Oakwood app)

We can’t wait to see you there!

Student Leadership Soft Launch

Starting this fall, we will be launching a student leadership team. This will consist of a once-a-month study, followed up by assigning students jobs where they can serve in the ministry on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

I will be soft launching the study portion of leadership team on March 7, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at our home. This will be open to current high school students. We will have four meetings, once a month on the first Friday of the month. I would love to have your students there as their feedback will be invaluable to me as I plan for the full launch in the fall.

Join the Student Worship Team!

This year, we’ve introduced a time of worship into our Sunday morning gatherings, and we’d love for your student(s) to be involved!

Calling All Singers:
Our most pressing need is for singers to help lead worship up front. If your student has a passion or talent for singing, please reach out to me at  . We’d love to have him or her join the team!

Musicians Welcome:
We’re also looking for students who play instruments and want to use their talents to serve God through worship arts.

Thank you for encouraging your student to be part of this meaningful ministry. Together, we can make worship a powerful and impactful experience!
