Students: Week of Dec. 9, 2024

Sunday Morning Programming

This Sunday, we’re continuing our journey through “The Thread” as we reach the final Book of the Bible—Revelation. As the calendar year winds down, we’ll focus on Revelation 1:9-20, where John receives a powerful vision of Jesus and is instructed to record what he sees.

Revelation can feel intimidating for some, but this week we’ll explore the hope it offers. We know how the story ends: Jesus—the central figure of all Scripture—wins! He rules and reigns as King forever. This truth is a reason for us, as believers, to celebrate with confidence and joy.

As always, you can find a parent letter here for more information.

Update: Starting in January, our Student Ministry will align with Kids Ministry in using The Gospel Project curriculum (student edition). This three-year journey takes students through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.

What I love about this curriculum is its intentionality—it doesn’t just cover the familiar stories but takes the time to explore accounts and biblical figures often overlooked in typical studies. It’s a great opportunity for our students to see how all of Scripture points to Jesus.

Wednesday Night Community

Wednesday Night Community is finished for the calendar year. We will resume meeting after the New Year on Jan. 15.

Middle School Gatherings

The next middle school gathering at the Feder’s is happening Friday, Jan. 3, from 6:30 - 8 p.m.This is a great opportunity for our middle school students to build relationships, have fun, and ask great spiritual questions. Food and snacks will be provided. RSVP to me, or Pat or Jeanene Feder so we know how much pizza to have.

Reverse Caroling

Join us this Saturday, Dec. 14 from 3 – 6 p.m. for Reverse Caroling at Oakwood! If you can help with setting up our station, that will be at 1 pm. We'll have stations set up around the grounds, each sharing part of the Christmas story through song. Our Student Ministry is in charge of the station sharing the story of Jesus' birth. Some students have already signed up, but if your student would like to participate, please email me at   so we can include them in the plans for the day. I also want to remind you that this is an outdoor event, so make sure that your students are dressed warmly!

Districts

If your student is signed up to attend the Districts Youth Conference, it’s now just over a month away! Keep an eye on your inbox for more updates from me as the date approaches, including important details about travel plans and more.
