Kids: Week of March 18, 2024

by Ashley Schmidt on March 18, 2024

From Mr. Seth

Wednesday, March 20

Last Wednesday we wrapped up the main portion of our "Colors of Easter" series. We focused on yellow for the last week because yellow reminds us of the sun that rose on the morning that Jesus rose from the grave. Yellow is also a happy color (much happier than the blue of the week before), so we celebrated because Jesus is alive! We learned about the resurrection, the appearances of Jesus to so many different people after rising from the dead, and the angel that was found by the tomb. The night concluded with all of the kids learning one of the most famous and important verses: John 3:16.

The "Colors of Easter" series may have ended, but that doesn't mean we are through with Easter yet! Just like we did with Valentine's Day a little over a month ago, we are going to have an Easter party. Invite some friends to come along because we are going to review what we learned, play some extra games, and win some delicious prizes! The following Wednesday, March 27, we will be off for spring break and returning April 3 with a new series (stay tuned)!

From Miss Ashley

Sunday, March 24

If you can, come a few minutes early and stay a few minutes late on Sunday. Kids will be waving palm branches early on during each service and we don’t want you to miss the cute celebration. Kids are invited to stay and wave palm branches in the 10:30 a.m. service too. If they stay, parents can pick up their kids after in the Kid Zone (around 10:45 a.m.).

This week we are switching things up and having a special Palm Sunday lesson and activity themed around Matthew 21 and this children’s book.

During large group, kids will also hear from Mr. Seth about his mission trip to Perth, Australia last summer. Oakwood kids helped support his trip through offering last year.

Offering Project

There is one week left for the Shepherds College Offering Project! Starting in April, we will kick off a new project to support a team from Oakwood going to serve at Esperanza Viva in Puebla, Mexico (more details coming soon)!
