Hello everyone! My name is Seth Smith, and many of you may know my dad (the famed Mr. Smith who leads large group on Sunday). I am Oakwood's new Kids Ministry Coordinator and, along with Ashley, I will be helping Wednesday Night Community in Kids Ministry run as smooth as ever. I've gone to Oakwood for as long as I can remember, and I am so glad to be here for this Spring and into the Summer!
Last week, kids learned a lot about how to pray and what to pray about. You can ask your kids about the game where they had to ask for things politely while still trying to win a race against their friends. You can ask them about this to help them make the connection between needing to talk to God if you want to have any chance of receiving anything from Him.
The series "Hey God" is entering its fourth week on Wednesday with "I Can Talk to God Anytime." It is rooted in all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John!). We will be following our usual schedule with a large group lesson for kids age K-5 before splitting off into a few rotations based on grade level. Our rotations involve some time for a game or two in the gym, as well as small group and more time to write and talk to God in their prayer journals. We are holding onto the prayer journals throughout the series, but once we are done the kids will be able to take it home, look back at prayers they wrote, see the pictures they drew, and hopefully add more prayers until it's full.
Sunday, Feb. 4
On Sunday, kids will learn about Peter boldly continuing to preach The Good News in Acts 4. Kids will discover ways to share their faith with others – which can be tricky! One simple (and incredibly fun) way could be to invite friends to the upcoming Easter event and Kids Day Camp (dates below – details coming soon).
Each week in large group kids practice the units Bible verse. The unit's verse is Romans 10:14.
Offering Project
Kids Ministry offering nearly doubled this last week putting us at about halfway to our goal!
