Kids: Week of Feb. 12, 2024

by Ashley Schmidt on February 12, 2024

Wednesday, Feb. 14

Last week, we concluded our series "Hey God" that focused on prayer. We looked at different stories about places where Jesus prayed, and we also read a story about how prayer has the power to help people, no matter where they are! We also finished our prayer journals, so the kids have taken them home. They can look back at what they wrote and even write new prayers in the pages they haven't filled yet. The important part is that they know how important prayer is to us as Christians. Reinforce that we can talk to God in any way, at anytime, anywhere, and about anything.

This week is our Valentine's Day Party! Bring a friend and show up at our regular Wednesday Night Community time (6:30 - 8 p.m.). There will be games, a craft, and even some snacks for all to make and enjoy. There will be some discussion about how God is love and how we love others around us (even our brothers and sisters when they annoy us) because God loved us first. That story is found in 1 John 4:7-21.

Sunday, Feb. 18

Kids will be learning from Acts 5 when the apostles were arrested for sharing Jesus’ Good News. Typically, we teach our kids to obey, but check out the game idea below and talk with your kids about why it was ok for the apostles to continue sharing the Good News even when they were told to stop.

Here is the new Bible verse that kids will bring home this week and will be practicing each week in large group until Easter. What a great verse to have in our hearts going into Easter!

Offering Project

If kids reach the goal of $200 towards Shepherds College, Mr. Scott and Miss Ashley will make chocolate chip cookies to share with the kids using Shepherd's own recipe. We are so close to our goal I can taste the chocolate chip cookies already!

Total = $155.62
To reach $200 goal = $44.38
