Kids: Week of April 8, 2024

From Mr. Seth

Wednesday, April 10

Despite the snow last Wednesday, we began our short spring trimester with the first week of our new series "Upward." This series focuses on the ups and downs of life through the story of Joseph in the Book of Genesis. The first week began with the story of Joseph's incredible, colorful coat and his dreams of grandeur: two things that made his 11 brothers mad at him. After his brothers beat him up, Joseph was sold into slavery. The theme of last week was "God is Always Good" and a big portion of the discussion was how even when things are bad, God is still good.

This week, the story continues with Joseph as a slave in the household of a very important man named Potiphar. Joseph (with God's help of course) quickly rises in the ranks among the slaves/servants, but then something bad happens with Potiphar's wife. Throughout this story Joseph will experience many highs and lows, but he is also moving UPWARD despite his struggles. The story for this week can be found in Genesis 39: 1-6, 17-23 if you would like to read along or ahead of time.

Sunday, April 14

Read Acts 10 with your kids this week to prepare them for or refresh their memories of this week's lesson. Gospel Project says, 'Kids will see when God showed Peter that just as there is no “clean” and “unclean” food in Christ, there are no “clean” and “unclean” people. God calls believers to tell everyone the good news about Jesus, no matter who they are or where they come from. Jesus is the Lord of all.'

Offering Project | April 7 – May 19 | Esperanza Viva

Esperanza Viva is an orphanage in Puebla, Mexico. A team of teens and adults from Oakwood will be serving there for a week this summer and we have the opportunity to offer them an experience to share with the kids living there. All Kids Ministry offering money collected April 7 – May 19 will go towards an experience to share together, such as an ice cream or pizza party, or taking the kids living at Esperanza Viva on a local field trip.

Upcoming Events

Opportunities to Serve

Summer Programming is 8 weeks in June and July. Kids are learning chronologically through the Bible over the course of three years. This summer, kids will finish with Paul's Mission to Rome in Acts and The Church’s Hope in Revelation.

These 8 weeks are a great chance to try out serving in Kids Ministry and allow the school year volunteers time off to refresh. See details below and connect with .
