This Sunday – Evil in the Lord's Sight
We are continuing our journey through the Bible and have come to the Book of 1 Kings, chapter 12. After the kingdom of Israel divides in two, the kingdoms fall into a terrible patter of idolatry. Israel in the north sets up idols to stop people from returning to Jerusalem. In the south, Judah sets up high places and idols. In doing so, they provoke God's righteous anger. This begins a cycle that will ultimately lead to the destruction of both kingdoms.
Students will be challenged this week to think about the idols in their lives. What things are causing them to be pulled toward the world instead of God? What cycles do they need to break to become the person that God has called them to be?
As always, here are the Family Connect page and Daily Devotional guide.
*We will be meeting downstairs in the Gathering Place this Sunday as the renovation of the youth room nears completion.*
Wednesday Night
Wednesday Night Community returns this week on Sept. 10 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.! We’ll be kicking off a new, four-week series called “Who We Are,” in which we’ll explore what it means to say that we are part of the Church.
Session 1: What We Believe
Big Idea: It all comes down to this: loving God and loving others as ourselves. Our key verses are Matthew 22:35-40, where Jesus states that these are the two most important commandments.
*The only significant change for this Wednesday will be splitting our High School small group into two groups: guys and girls.
**We will also be meeting in the downstairs Middle School Room with hopes of being back into the upstairs room next Wednesday.

Student Leadership Team
I’m excited to share an awesome opportunity for your high school students! Starting in October, we are launching a Student Leadership Team that will meet once a month during second service. As part of this team, students will go through a study on different aspects of leadership from a biblical perspective. They’ll also have the chance to serve in various areas of our student ministry—such as tech, worship, greeting, and more.
This is a great way for students to get involved, take ownership of the ministry, and serve others just like Jesus did.
Here is the application to be a part of this team. Please have your student return theirs to me by the end of September if they would like to be part of the team.
Districts Youth Conference
I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about sending your High School students to Districts! Districts is the annual youth conference put on by the EFCA Forest Lakes District in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This coming year it's Jan. 9 - 11, 2026. This is an amazing weekend filled with moving worship, challenging speakers, and great bonding as a group. I would highly encourage your students to attend. Save the date and keep an eye out for registration!
