This Sunday – THRIVE Launch
We are so excited to announce that this Sunday we are officially re-launching the Student Ministry under its new name: THRIVE.
This name was chosen with the help of students and leaders to reflect the truth found in John 10:10 where Jesus says,"I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly."
That's what we will be focusing in on this week, the idea that we can have a life in Jesus where we don't just survive, but we thrive. We are so excited to start this new chapter of Student Ministry here at Oakwood!
THRIVE Open House
This Sunday after first service, the student room will be open for any and all who are interested in seeing the newly-renovated space. You don't have to have a student in the ministry to come and check out all that has been going on. We would love to get the chance to share the heart behind the ministry with you this Sunday! And, because we're Oakwood, of course we'll have refreshments!
Wednesday Night
This Wednesday, students are the first ones to see and use the newly-renovated student room! We are so excited for the students to see the space!
Last week we kicked off a new 4-week series called "Who We Are," in which we'll explore what it means to say we are part of the Church. This series will help students understand what it means to be part of the local church and why being part of a local church is such an important part of their identity as Christ-followers.
Session 2: Small Groups
Big Idea: We are better together.
This week students will learn that when we are part of the church, we are not meant to live life alone. Our main text for this week is Hebrews 10:24-25 where we are instructed to not stop meeting together. Our students will be encouraged to see the value of the small groups they are a part of every single week, and how community is God's design for the church.
Fall Retreats
Middle School – Registration Closed
High School Fall Retreat | October 3–5
Please register by Sept. 17!

We’re heading to The Woods Camp in Fredonia, WI for an unforgettable weekend! This retreat will be a meaningful opportunity for students to dive into God’s Word and honestly wrestle with the doubts and challenges they face in today’s world. There will also be plenty of fun and time to build community—The Woods offers a high ropes course, 9 Square, blacklight gym games, paintball, and more! The cost is $150 per student.
Student Leadership Team
I’m excited to share an awesome opportunity for your high school students! Starting in October, we are launching a Student Leadership Team that will meet once a month during second service. As part of this team, students will go through a study on different aspects of leadership from a biblical perspective. They’ll also have the chance to serve in various areas of our student ministry—such as tech, worship, greeting, and more.
This is a great way for students to get involved, take ownership of the ministry, and serve others just like Jesus did.
Here is the application to be a part of this team. Please have your student return theirs to me by the end of September if they would like to be part of the team.
Districts Youth Conference
I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about sending your High School students to Districts! Districts is the annual youth conference put on by the EFCA Forest Lakes District in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This coming year it's Jan. 9 - 11, 2026. This is an amazing weekend filled with moving worship, challenging speakers, and great bonding as a group. I would highly encourage your students to attend. Save the date and keep an eye out for registration!
