Students: Week of May 19, 2025

by Caleb Garnett on May 19, 2025

This Sunday: No Programming

There is no student programming this Sunday. Enjoy worshiping together as a family during the one 9 a.m. service.

Wednesday Night Community

For our final Wednesday of formal programming, we'll be wrapping up with a one-off message titled, "Make it Last." This message will challenge students to consider: How can we take what we've learned this year and make it last through the summer?

We'll look at Numbers 32:11-13, where the Israelites forgot what God had done for them and turned away. Their story serves as a warning - and a reminder - not to let spiritual growth fade when routines change. Students will be encouraged to reflect on what God has done - and is doing - in their lives, write it down, and share their story with a friend or family member. It's a way to remember God's faithfulness and carry it forward into whatever comes next.

Summer Programming - Wednesday Nights

While May 21 marks the end of our formal Wednesday night programming, the fun isn't stopping in Student Ministry! We'll continue to meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 8 p.m. throughout the summer. Each week will be packed with outdoor fun - think bonfires, water games, gaga ball, kickball, and more! Along with the games, we'll also take time for meaningful devotionals as we dig into God's Word together. I'm looking forward to an awesome summer of fun, connection, and growth. I hope your student can join us!

Graduation Sunday

On Sunday, June 8, we will be recognizing Oakwood graduates! If you have an 8th grader, High School senior, or higher education graduate, please complete this form to let us know about their accomplishments. High School graduates will be recognized on stage during the 9 a.m. worship service. Submissions must be completed by June 4.

High School Bonfires

High School students, we've heard you. You've been asking for more high school-specific events and we're excited to make it happen.

This summer, join us on Sunday nights from 6 - 8 p.m. at Oakwood starting June 1 for High School Bonfires. These nights will be laid-back and fun - a chance to hang out, roast s'mores, play games, and build deeper connections with one another. Invite your friends and come ready for a great time around the fire!

*If anyone would be open to hosting one of these events at your home, please feel free to reach out and let me know!

True North Kids Camp - CITs Needed!

Is your student looking for a fun or meaningful way to serve this summer? We have the perfect opportunity!

Oakwood's True North Kids Camp is July 23 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., and we're looking for middle school and high school students to set up as CITs (Counselors in Training). CITs will help lead games, songs, special activities, and more - making it an exciting way to serve younger kids and grow as leaders.

Lunch and snacks will be provided for all student volunteers. CIT applications are available in the High School Room or can be picked up from and returned to Pastor Caleb.

Middle School Gatherings

The final Middle School Gathering of the year is at the Feder's on Friday, June 6, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for our Middle School students to build relationships, have fun, and ask great spiritual questions. Food and snacks will be provided. RSVP to Pastor Caleb or Pat Feder.

Join the Worship Team!
This year, we’ve introduced a time of worship into our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening gatherings, and we’d love for your students to be involved!
Thank you for encouraging your student to be part of this meaningful ministry. Together, we can make worship a powerful and impactful experience!
