Students: Week of May 12, 2025

by Caleb Garnett on May 12, 2025

This Sunday: Samson
As we continue our journey through the book of Judges, we turn to one of the most fascinating stories—the life of Samson.

Samson was set apart from birth to be God’s deliverer from the Philistines who were oppressing Israel. However, instead of living a life devoted to God, Samson continually compromised his calling. He pursued foreign women, defiled himself by eating from a lion’s carcass, and ultimately broke his Nazarite vow by cutting his hair.

Samson's life is a reflection of Israel’s own struggle—called to be set apart, yet constantly falling into sin and turning from the Lord. Eventually, Samson was bound and taken captive by the Philistines, a powerful image of how our own sin binds and separates us from a holy God.

But even in his humiliation, God was not finished with Samson. In one final act of strength, Samson brought down the Philistine temple, sacrificing himself to defeat Israel’s enemies. His story points us to Jesus—who, through His own humiliation and death, broke the power of sin and set us free forever.

As per usual, here are the Family Connect page and the Daily Discipleship Guide to continue the conversation at home with your student(s).

Wednesday Night Community
This week, we’ll dive into 1 Samuel 3, where God calls out to young Samuel. At first, Samuel doesn’t recognize God’s voice—but with some guidance, he learns to listen and respond. From that moment on, Samuel walks faithfully with God and becomes a powerful leader for His people.

Just like Samuel, many of us can miss or doubt God's voice in our lives—especially when we’re young. But God is calling, and He often speaks in ways we don’t expect. This week, we’ll talk about how to recognize God’s voice, how to respond in faith, and how your story—right now—is part of something much bigger than you might imagine.

Come ready to be encouraged, challenged, and reminded that you’re not too young to hear from God and be used by Him in powerful ways—right now, right where you are.

Join the Worship Team!

This year, we’ve introduced a time of worship into our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening gatherings, and we’d love for your students to be involved!

Calling All Singers: Our most pressing need is for singers to help lead worship up front. If your student has a passion or talent for singing, please reach out to me. We’d love to have them join the team!

Musicians Welcome: We’re also looking for students who play instruments and want to use their talents to serve God through worship arts.

Thank you for encouraging your student to be part of this meaningful ministry. Together, we can make worship a powerful and impactful experience!
