Students: Week of June 9, 2025

This Sunday: To obey is better
This Sunday, we’re continuing our series through the life of Saul by looking at 1 Samuel 15. In this chapter, God commands Saul to completely destroy the Amalekites—but once again, Saul disobeys. He spares the king and keeps the best of the flocks, claiming he plans to offer them as sacrifices. Samuel responds with a powerful reminder: “To obey is better than sacrifice.” This repeated pattern of disobedience ultimately opens the door for David—a man after God’s own heart—to take the throne of Israel.
Students will be challenged to see that, like in Saul’s life, partial obedience is still disobedience. When God calls us to remove something from our lives, He calls for complete obedience—not half-measures.

As always, here are the Parent Connect page and the Weekly Devotional.

Wednesday Night Hangouts
Join us for casual Wednesday night hangouts from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in the youth room! We’ll have games, fun, and time to relax together. If the weather’s nice, we’ll head outside for gaga ball, kickball, frisbee, and maybe a bonfire. If it’s not, we’ll keep the fun going indoors with cards, video games, and more. Bring a friend and come hang out—we’d love to see you there!

High School Bonfires – Time Change

All students who will be in High School this fall are welcome to join us on Sunday nights from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Oakwood for High School Bonfires. These nights will be laid-back and fun—a chance to hang out, roast s'mores, play games, and build deeper connections with one another.
Invite your friends and come ready for a great time around the fire!

*If anyone would be open to hosting one of these events at your home, please feel free to reach out and let me know!*

Game Night
On Friday, June 20, from 5 - 9 p.m., we will be having Game Night at Oakwood. Bring your favorite board games and card games and come ready to have fun. We will provide snacks and drinks.

Join the Worship Team!
This year, we’ve introduced a time of worship into our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening gatherings, and we’d love for your students to be involved!
Thank you for encouraging your student to be part of this meaningful ministry. Together, we can make worship a powerful and impactful experience!
