Kids: Week of Oct. 7, 2024

by Ashley Schmidt on October 07, 2024

Wednesday, Oct. 9

Cookies are small, often bite-sized treats. Jesus taught His followers using short and sweet stories called parables that can teach us a lot about how God wants us to live and how much He loves us. Volunteers will kick off this 6-week unit with the Parable of the Pearl in Matthew 13:45-46 and compare that to a family favorite, Oreos.

*If you haven't completed the consent form, please do so. If your child has an allergy, please complete the form and let me or one of the WNC Kid Min Volunteers know. All cookies will be nut free and there are Starbursts as an alternative treat.

Sunday, Oct. 13 | Community Partner Day | One Service @ 9 a.m.

K-5th graders please join your family in the big church for a special morning with Oakwood’s Community Partners. One of which is Shepherds College and last year the kids learned about, prayed over, and collected offering for them!

Birth –Preschoolers are welcome to check into their classrooms. Miss Emma & Mr. Eric will lead the preschoolers in a Community Partner-themed morning just for them.

Operation Christmas Child

OCC is our current offering project and kids are about one third of the way to our goal of $400. That $400 will pay for shipping for 40 boxes of gifts and the gospel! Kids are invited to pack these shoeboxes on Wednesday, Nov. 20 during WNC.

Would you consider purchasing something to put in the shoeboxes? Here is an Amazon Gift List with items for the boxes, but if you have similar items to donate, please leave them at the Kids Ministry desk. Please keep in mind the size of the shoebox and Samaritan's Purse Guidelines for what items are and are not allowed.
