Infant-5th grade: Week of May 9, 2022

May 10, 2022

THIS WEEK IN KIDS

It's May, which means kids will soon be saying goodbye to another school! Generally, kids are jumping for joy while parents are…. walking the summer aisles at Walmart hoping to find activities to keep the kids busy for the next few months!

This week we are talking about Joshua who was also preparing to say goodbye!  Joshua knew his time here on earth was quickly coming to an end, so he used his last days here on earth to encourage God's people. Instead of slowing down he went harder for God.  What he said is still a powerful message for us today. When Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel he told people in Joshua 24:14, to fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness. In verse 15 he encourages them to choose to serve God in spite of their circumstances.

MY PRAYER FOR YOU THIS WEEK

My prayer for you this week is that you would encourage your children to end this school year pointing others to Jesus!  I pray that each child be known by their classmates as a kind, loving, great friend filled with the joy of the Lord because they made a choice to serve the Lord with their life!  My prayer also, is that you would help your children choose to follow Jesus moment by moment!  There is a lot going on around us that can easily distract our kids. In almost every situation we face we have a choice to make...will we or will we not follow the Lord?  Joshua wasn’t the only one to leave a legacy behind.  When Jesus ascended into heaven, he told His disciples to keep serving God by telling everyone everywhere about what Jesus had done!  His disciples had a choice and even though most paid the ultimate sacrifice they chose a life of serving the Lord! Please know, the Oakwood staff and elders are committed to praying for our families to be households that daily choose to follow the Lord!
