You're not Alone

Support during your time of need

Care

hope is here

God never promised us an easy life, but He gifted us with others who can love us like He would (John 13:34). At Oakwood, it is our privilege to love and care for others during their times of need. While we have many ways we serve the people in our congregation and community, below are three specialized areas of support. If you need assistance beyond these options, please contact us.

Stephen ministry

Stephen Ministry offers one-to-one, Christ-centered care. If you're grieving, in the midst of a challenging relationship, facing a crisis, or in a difficult spot in life, trained Oakwood Stephen Ministers can meet with you and walk along side you.

Learn more about Stephen Ministry here, or email us for more information or to connect with an Oakwood Stephen Minister.

Marriage Mentoring

Oakwood’s Marriage Mentoring is an educational program that teaches couples the skills to have a happy, life-long relationship. Through Oakwood's Marriage Mentoring, couples will:

  • Learn how to communicate and deal with conflict in a healthy manner
  • Gain foundational tools to help the relationship
  • Create emotional bonding between the couple

We use the Prepare/Enrich online assessment to get a solid understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in the relationship. Then, each couple is paired with an Oakwood Marriage Mentor couple to walk through elements of the program that will help address any challenges, like finances, communication, etc. It's different from traditional counseling or therapy in that it is couple-to-couple mentoring.

Oakwood's Marriage Mentoring is available to all couples regardless of what stage the relationship is in (married, dating, or engaged), or if they are regular Oakwood attenders.

Care Connection Meal Ministry

Our Care Connection team coordinates meals for any person or family that has had a recent birth, serious illness, surgery, hospitalization or death in their family.

How It Works

We use Meal Train, a service that lists an individual's or family's need and coordinates the schedule for meal deliveries. Our volunteers will post the active Meal Train requests in the Oakwood Church Care Connection Facebook group, so please join the group if you'd like to be a part of our meal ministry. Once you're ready to contribute a meal, click on the Meal Train link, review the meal request specifics (like dietary restrictions), sign up for a date and coordinate a drop off with the individual or family in need.

If You Have a Need

If you or your family could benefit from our meal ministry, simply send us an email and we'll contact you about setting up a Meal Train.
