Overcoming the World

by Scott Walker on February 02, 2022

One doesn’t need to spend much time in this world to realize that life is a struggle. Every day, the weight of the world takes a toll on each of us. We all hope to be spared the trials and tribulations that this world brings, but Jesus never made this promise.

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 (ESV)

It seems that Jesus intends for us to experience the struggles of this life and to overcome them as He did.

"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" – 1 John 5:4–5 (ESV)

Who do you know that’s experiencing trials that you can be praying for? As we pray for those who are experiencing tribulation, let us remind them that Christ has already overcome the world, and His victory is ours to claim.  Let us not grow weary in sharing the gospel. Let us be encouraged by Christ’s own words:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)

How can we be praying for you? Please share requests here. We have a prayer team that would delight in praying with you after our Sunday worship experiences. Visit them at the front of the Worship Center.
