Students: Week of Sept. 22, 2025

by Caleb Garnett on September 22, 2025

This Sunday – Guest Speaker
The next two Sundays (Sept. 28 + Oct. 5), we'll have guest speakers while some of our students are on retreats. Our regular curriculum will resume on Oct. 12.
This week we're excited to welcome one of our amazing leaders, Scott Ellis, as he speaks to our students about the importance of building biblical friendships. Friendships play such a big role in shaping who we become, and Scott will be encouraging our students to pursue relationships that point them closer to Jesus. It's going to be a great morning together!
Wednesday Night
6:30 - 8 p.m.
We are in the middle of a 4-week series called "Who We Are," in which we'll explore what it means to say we are part of the Church. This series will help students understand what it means to be part of the local church and why being part of a local church is such an important part of their identity as Christ-followers.

Session 3: Who we are outside of church
Big Idea: We want to be the same people in here as we are out there.
This week we are focusing on the idea that when we are part of a church, we need to live like it. Christians should not be living a double life where we appear holy at church and we live like the world outside of church. Our main Scripture is Matthew 5:13-16 where Jesus reminds us that we are salt and light, and made to let our light shine in all areas of our life.
Fall Retreats
Middle School – THIS WEEKEND!
We're looking forward to taking middle school students to Lake Geneva Youth Camp. We will meet at Oakwood by 5:15 p.m. on Friday and leave shortly after. We'll return to Oakwood on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Please join us in praying for a safe trip full of spiritual growth for our students.

Student Leadership Team
I’m excited to share an awesome opportunity for your high school students! Starting in October, we are launching a Student Leadership Team that will meet once a month during second service. As part of this team, students will go through a study on different aspects of leadership from a biblical perspective. They’ll also have the chance to serve in various areas of our student ministry—such as tech, worship, greeting, and more.
This is a great way for students to get involved, take ownership of the ministry, and serve others just like Jesus did.
Here is the application to be a part of this team. Please have your student return theirs to me by THIS SUNDAY if they would like to be part of the team. Our first meeting is Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m.

Districts Youth Conference
I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about sending your High School students to Districts! Districts is the annual youth conference put on by the EFCA Forest Lakes District in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This coming year it's Jan. 9 - 11, 2026. This is an amazing weekend filled with moving worship, challenging speakers, and great bonding as a group. I would highly encourage your students to attend. Registration comes out this week!
Middle School Gatherings

The Monthly Middle School Gatherings are back this year! The first hangout will be Friday, Oct. 3 at Pat and Jeanene Feder's home from 6:30 - 8 p.m. All students in grades 6-8 are invited. There will be food, games, and lots of fun! We hope to see you there!
