This Sunday: A House for You
This week, we’re diving into one of the most powerful moments in all of Scripture—the Davidic Covenant in 2 Samuel 7. David wants to build a temple for God, but instead, God tells David that his son will build it, and more than that, God will establish a never-ending kingdom through David’s family line. This is one of the clearest messianic prophecies in the Bible, pointing us directly to Jesus, the final and forever King who would come from David’s line.

Wednesday Night Hangouts
This week, join us for casual Wednesday night hangouts from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the youth room! We’ll have games, fun, and time to relax together. If the weather’s nice, we’ll head outside for gaga ball, kickball, frisbee, and maybe a bonfire. If it’s not, we’ll keep the fun going indoors with cards, video games, and more. Bring a friend and come hang out—we’d love to see you there!
We are walking through the book “Radical Like Jesus” by Greg Stier on Wednesday nights, with a challenge each week of how we can live a radical life like Jesus. If you are interested in the book, you can find it here.
Wednesday Night Summer Schedule
Here’s what Wednesday nights in July will look like:
- July 16 – Wednesday Night Hangout
- July 23 – No programming (Kid’s Camp)
- July 30 – Final Wednesday Night Hangout of the summer
In August, we will take a break from student programming to give our awesome volunteers a chance to rest and recharge. We will also be renovating the student ministry space for our relaunch in the fall.
New Monthly Calendars
New calendars for the months of July – September are available this Wednesday by the Family Life resource board, so come pick one up!
National Night Out
On Aug.7 from 6 – 8 p.m., the Village of Hartland is hosting National Night Out at Nixon Park. Oakwood Kids and Students will have a booth at the event, and we’ll also be hosting an inflatable slide for the kids!
I'll be looking for some of our awesome students to help run the inflatable and represent Oakwood. It's a great opportunity to serve our community and have some fun! More details on timing and logistics will be shared as we get closer to the event.
Beach Party!
On Aug. 20 from 7 – 9 p.m., we’re teaming up with several youth ministries from across Lake Country to throw an epic Beach Party at City Beach in Oconomowoc!
There will be food, music, games, and a powerful time of testimony. A ton of work has already gone into making this a memorable night—so mark your calendars and don’t miss it!
Summer Picnic
Oakwood is hosting its Summer Picnic on Aug.24! There will be an outdoor worship service followed by food, fun and games.
None of this is possible without some amazing volunteers, and that is where you come in. Student Ministry is responsible for running water and carnival games. We could use some student (or parent) volunteers to help run these games. If you are interested, please reach out to me or the church office and we would love to get you plugged in.
