Kids: Week of Sept. 28, 2026

by Ashley Schmidt on September 28, 2026

Wednesday, Sept. 30

Last week, our time ended with Seymour, our Bible buddy! We talked about how God knows everything about us, down to the littlest detail! When we brainstormed together all the things God knows, our list included, "God knows I love pickles" and, "God made me love cheese!"

This week we introduce Dottie, the Ocelot, as our next Bible buddy. She is going to tell us why God is our safe place and how we can lean into Him when we are worried, sad, or happy.

Sunday, Oct. 4

Read Matthew 9 to prepare or review this week's lesson about when Jesus gave life and healing. Have your child practice finding this in a Bible. Even emergent readers can begin to find Scripture by finding the chapter numbers (big number on the page) and verse number (small number within the words). Or they can simply start by finding the book name.

Operation Christmas Child + Offering Update

Again this fall, the Kids Ministry offering will help cover the cost of shipping shoeboxes of goodies to kids around the world (and we'll cover them in prayer!).

You can also join the fun by purchasing items from our Amazon wish list as we prepare for our 5th Annual Packing Party!

The Packing Party is during WNC programming on Nov. 18 and is open to all preschool-5th graders. Please ensure all items are at Oakwood by Sunday, Nov. 8.

Upcoming
  • Sunday, Oct. 18 | Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day | Consider a card, note, or simple in-person "thank you" to the volunteers that serve with your kiddos on Sundays and Wednesdays
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18 | OCC Packing Party
