Wednesday, Sept. 23
We had a great kick off last week! The kids made some cool galaxy jars, reminding us that God created the universe and knows every little detail just as He knows everything about us. The kids had so much fun creating different layers of paint and creating their glitter masterpiece. This week we are finishing with our Psalm 139:1 verse. Kids will finish with our Bible buddy, Seymour the Glass Frog, and we will introduce our next Bible buddy.
Sunday, Sept. 27
Did you know that each week the elementary kids practice memorizing the theme verse? Your child should have received a card with the current verse, Isaiah 4:8, and will get new ones every unit (roughly once a month). Each memory verse connects with what we're learning on Sunday mornings, helping kids hide God's Word in their hearts. This month's verse pairs perfectly with this week's lesson about Jesus calming the storm, reminding us that God is with us through every fear and storm we face.
This Sunday is super special for all the 2nd graders! At this age, they are budding readers, and learning how to read and navigate their Bible is an important part of every lesson. Every 2nd grader attending Oakwood on Sunday will be gifted a new NIrV Early Reader's Bible. If your child already has one, please consider gifting it to another who needs God's Message of love and hope or leaving it in the classroom to be used others.
