Wednesday Night Community | May 14
For the last 2 weeks of WNC, kids will be doing a service project and a fun activity all together. Your kids are not going to want to miss out and are encouraged to bring a friend. Pictures of the last weeks’ service project and fun are on the Family Life Facebook page.
Upcoming activities:
- Movie Night(s) (indoors)
- Inflatable and gym time (indoors- socks needed)
- Outdoor Playtime on the playground/baseball field (outside)
The activity for the night will be based on the weather and may need to change at the last minute. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather – layers are best and send socks in case we have the indoor inflatable!
Sunday, May 18
We are wrapping up the school year with Samson. Samson’s great strength came from God alone. He had no power to defeat the Philistines on his own. We cannot please God on our own. Through faith in Jesus, people are saved from sin and receive the Holy Spirit, who helps them live to please God.
Most of our phenomenal Sunday morning volunteers are taking the summer off. Consider taking a moment to say thank you, share a moment that impacted your child or write them a card and...
... Consider Volunteering Yourself!
If you can serve every Sunday – AMEN - GREAT! If not, we welcome you and your summer schedule.
Complete this form and background check and return it to Ashley or Caleb and reach out with any questions.
More details are in the Summer Snapshot section below. Maybe you can help sporadically with babies or toddlers. Maybe older kids are more your style, and you are interested in helping them learn about King Saul or King David OR BOTH!
Offering Update
On Sunday, May 11, kids gave $11.10 to offering! So far, we have collected $19.27 for Bibles for Royal Family Kids Camp. Our goal is $200, so we have $180.73 to go!
Summer Snapshot
June 1 will kick off our Summer Programming. We will pick up where we left off with The Gospel Project. Summer programming is 8 Sundays with formal lessons in small and large groups.
Family Sundays will offer childcare for preschool and younger. These days are less structured. Kindergartners – 12th graders get the opportunity to worship with their family in church. Take the opportunity to model “big-church” to your kids, but knowing they are still kids – there are Busy Bags and Kid Bulletins for elementary kids.
Family Sundays are Memorial Day weekend, July 6, August, and Labor Day weekend.
June 1 is also Promotion Sunday when kids get to be “promoted” to the next grade.
Please note that:
- Nursery and toddler classes are fluid. Kids can be officially promoted as they become ready.
- Preschool kids must:
- Be 3 years old by Sept. 1, 2025
- Have not yet attended kindergarten
- Be potty trained
- Able to participate in a more structured classroom setting
- If your child is not yet potty trained and/or able to participate appropriately they should remain in the toddler room until they are ready. At any time in the year when they are ready, they can move up if they fit the above criteria.
- Elementary kids will be recognized by the grade they will be in the ‘25-’26 school year.
As always, if you have questions, concerns, or special circumstances please reach out.
True North Kids Summer Day Camp
Registration is open for Oakwood's "True North" Kids Summer Day Camp! Back this year are the half-day preschool option and the opportunity to bring a non-Oakwood friend for free! Kids will spend a fun day learning how to trust Jesus in a wild world.
