6th-8th grade: Week of May 23, 2022

by Myles Hanson on May 24, 2022

Hey families,

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I hope that this is a great time of rest, fun, and a warm start to the summer. I'm looking forward to hearing about what your family did together with the extra time off.

MAY 25 | 6:30-8 PM

Wednesday night is our last discussion about worldview! We've defined worldview and looked at the worldview of Disney the last couple weeks and now we're going to look at charity! There's a great trend in our culture of giving and being charitable, but some sneaky people have been capitalizing on this to benefit themselves. I'm looking to shatter the glass on a few things our students may have not noticed before, should be a fun conversation!

MAY 29 | NO STUDENT PROGRAM

Sunday morning there is no student programming as it's Memorial Day weekend! Please enjoy the weekend and get some rest, relaxation, and good memories!

JUNE 1 | 6:30-8:30 PM

Wednesday, June 1st we will be meeting as a combined group of middle and high school students from 6:30 - 8:00pm. We'll be around the campfire pit here at Oakwood to celebrate our 8th graders and seniors as well as those students who completed goals over the school year. We'll enjoy s'mores, games together, tell stories and celebrate, and then open youth group up to the entire church starting at 7:45. 7:45 - 8:30 will be a time of reminiscing for anyone who'd like to come and share stories of times with Nicole and I over the years. We'll have some desserts to share and you're going to want to bring a lawn chair with you as seating is limited around the fire. Sign up here.

Nicole and I would love to have you all be there for that time to get one last shindig in before our move to Minnesota. See you there!

JUNE 5 | 9 AM & 10:30 AM

Sunday, June 5th is Grad Sunday! We'll be celebrating our 8th grade, high school seniors, and college graduated this Sunday morning at both services. We'll not have student programming that morning so all of our students can celebrate their peers. If you have not submitted your grad's info to Carrie in the office, do so by Sunday, May 29.

SUMMER PLANS

And over the summer we'll pick back up with occasional Wednesday nights (starting June 8th) and weekly Sunday mornings (starting June 12th). These meetings will be combined for both middle and high school groups. Should be an awesome summer, keep an eye on your email inbox for more details in the next week!

It's been an awesome journey doing ministry with you and your family over the years. Nicole and I have enjoyed our time here very much and we're so thankful for each of you and all the ways you've supported us. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
