Young Adults

2 Corinthians

Schedule: Tuesdays | 9 - 11 a.m.

Audience: Women

Description: Discover how God is the ultimate source of strength and sufficiency. In this study of 2 Corinthians, we'll find that God gives you strength to go on - through troubles, disappointments, and temptations - and strength to go forth, equipping you to serve Him and compelling you to share the gospel.

Books of the Bible

Audience: Men

Description: This is a drop-in group, so come whenever you can. We'll study a book of the Bible and we are currently studying the Book of Matthew.

Senior Fellowship

Audience: Retirement age, co-ed adults

Women of the Word

Schedule: 2nd + 4th Wednesdays | 9 - 10:15 a.m.

Audience: Women

DescriptionWe all know it’s important to study God’s Word, but a lack of time, cumbersome methods, and past frustrations can erode our resolve. This Oakwood women’s group that will help you to develop a clear and concise plan every time you open your Bible.  

Through the process outlined in Jen Wilkin’s book Women of the Word, we will be studying different books of the Bible. Beginning June 25 through the rest of summer, we will be in the Book of Colossians. You can jump in at any time!

This group will encourage women who’ve studied Scripture for a short time or for many years!

Tame Your Thoughts

Schedule: Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Audience: Co-ed adults

Description: Have you been feeling weighed down by worry? Or caught up in a web of self-critical thoughts? The good news is that with God's help, you can learn to take every thought captive and test the messages that replay in your mind against the truth of God's Word. You will also learn to overcome common thought traps like anxiety, guilt, rejection, dissatisfaction, and more. No matter who you are or where you come from, progress is possible. This is a video-based study featuring Max Lucado’s teaching.

Attributes of God

Schedule: Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Audience: Women

Description: God's attributes are His characteristics. They tell us who He is and what He is like. When we know God, we love Him, and He changes everything. This study walks through God's incommunicable attributes, which are characteristics that are only true of Him, as well as His communicable attributes, which are attributes that we are called to reflect.

1 Timothy

Schedule: Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Audience: Men

Description: How can you be trained in living as a man of God? In his letter to a younger leader, we will study Paul’s words of encouragement and instruction to build up Timothy in his faith. These same words offer help for us today to grow into mature disciples.

Oakwood DNA

Description:Oakwood’s mission is to be a community that loves Jesus and lives to make His love known. Together, we’ll look at Scripture to see how God has called Oakwood to serve our community in this time and this place. This group will follow the Sunday message series on the same topic, focused on applying God’s Word to our everyday lives.

Just Among Moms

Schedule: Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8 p.m. - OR - Thursdays | 9 - 10:45 a.m.

Audience: Moms of all stages

Leader(s): Lexi Ellis + Robin Whelan

Description: Being a mom is a wild ride, no matter what season you are in. From babies to teens, we can struggle with feeling inadequate and under equipped. This year we will be wading through the reality that there is no perfect mom, but there is a source of grace with God that we can anchor realistic expectations to. We will start our year exploring No More Perfect Moms by Jill Savage and work together to embrace our real, but imperfect, lives. After that, there will be time to invest in habits and actions that hand down our faith through Sticky Faith. Finally, our year will wrap up as we spend some time navigating the digital world together with our families, using Confident Digital Parenting as our resource.
