About Bernie
Bernie is serving his fifth, three-year term as an elder at Oakwood. He's been married to his wife, Margaret, for half a century. They have three married children who each have three children of their own. They’re close to their extended family, which is easier to do when four of your mother’s siblings married four of your dad’s siblings! Bernie was raised in a strong Christian home and, as he grew older, his faith changed from “fire insurance” to following Jesus. Bernie keeps his professional skills fresh with his own business that specializes in difficult situations in the invest, trust and estate world, as well as financial planning. He’s a former weapons instructor and outdoor emergency care instructor – skills he likes to maintain for fun. When he can “veg out,” he enjoys spending time at his family’s retreat on the Wisconsin River in the Wisconsin Dells.
