Women's Christmas Experience

Women's Christmas Experience

Thursday, November 05, 2020 - Thursday, December 24, 2020

“So the Word became human
and made His home among us...”
John 1:14 (NLT)

This Advent, let’s celebrate that Jesus entered our world so that we would find our true home in Him. Set aside the stress of the holidays, the pressure of the expectations, the burden of doing-it-all, and instead focus on the message of Christmas: Jesus came to be God with us, a refuge in Whom we can put our trust.

Bring Christmas Home to the women in your life with a meaningful experience this holiday.

Oakwood WeWomen will make it easy for you.

Simply invite the women in your life – as many or as few as you’d like – to your home or to a virtual Christmas gathering. We’ll have prepared activities for you and your guests, like video messages, Christmas carols, devotionals, service projects, recipes, crafts and more! Choose which activities you’d like to do with your guests and share the love of Jesus with your friends and family.

Questions and Answers about Hosting
  1. How many women should I invite? The group can be whatever size meets the needs of your guests. Maybe God is asking you to invite one woman, or maybe a few women from your family or neighborhood. It’s up to you, according to what is comfortable for you and your guests.

  2. When should I plan the gathering? Anytime! It has been our tradition at Oakwood to hold a WeWomen event at the beginning of Advent to start off the Christmas season with the true meaning behind the holiday. This year, you choose the date and time that works for you!

  3. Can I open up my in-home or virtual gathering to others? Yes! If you would like to host an event that would be open to women you don’t know, you can let us know when you sign up as a hostess. Otherwise, feel free to keep the gathering as an invitation-only event.

  4. Can I include young women? Of course! There will be activity options appropriate for all ages, though not targeted specifically to children.

  5. When will the activities be available to help me plan my gathering? We will have it ready before Thanksgiving – if not sooner! – so that you can prepare well for your guests.

  6. Do I need to serve food? No! You may want to meet for Saturday brunch or do dessert and coffee in the evening. You may choose not to serve food at all. We’ll provide some fun recipe ideas for you, but it’s up to you!

  7. How could I host a group online? There are lots of video platforms out there, though we recommend Zoom. We can reserve a time for you on Zoom, just email Carrie Ziebell to request it. A part of the digital menu will be ideas specifically for hosting an online gathering, so if this option is best for you or your guests, we want to support you! (We would recommend online groups be limited to 10 to facilitate the best interaction.)

  8. Can you print out resources for me? Yes! We’ll have a number of resources that you may want to print, and we can provide those for you via mail or pick-up at Oakwood.

  9. Will there be a silent auction this year? No, but we will offer an option for your gathering to participate in a service project in conjunction with Oakwood’s Advent Conspiracy.

  10. What support will be given? We would like to contact all the women who are hostesses to pray with you before the gathering and then cover you in prayer on that day! We can also walk you through hosting a virtual event, should you need help with that. Pray about women you would like to invite and sign up as a hostess today!

  11. What if I’m not able to host, but I still want to join a gathering? We’d love to have you participate! Please email Sarah Hayden and she can let you know about gatherings you can join.
