Kids: Week of Jan. 23, 2023

by Ashley Schmidt on January 23, 2023

Hello Fellow Oakwood Families-

This past Sunday, your kids blew away me and all the leaders with their offering to the Nepal mission trip! I talked with kids who decided to share some of their Christmas and birthday money gifted to them, some who did extra chores to earn money, and some who shared with friends and family what offering and giving to God is all about. Way to go sharing God’s love with others! Nepal collections will go through February. Check out 3-year-old Zeke sweeping to earn offering money, and the 4k/5k class ready for large group with their offering bags.

Here's what's happening this week:

Wednesday, Jan. 25
It was great having everyone back last week! They giggled and played with our giant parachute in the gym, heard from Mr. Mark about how God is eternal. They crafted a clock. The inner circle of the clock had pictures of things with a start and an end - school, vacation, spring time - and on the outside they wrote “God” to represent that God is outside of time!

This week, 3k-5th graders will continue with a new attribute of God: God is Sovereign. He is above all; there is no person, no nation, or anything above God! Ask your kids to tell you about the attributes they’ve learned about so far: God is Eternal and God is Sovereign.

Sunday, Jan. 29
Programming at 9 a.m. will begin a new unit and this week kids will learn about Queen Ester and how God used her to save His people. Our key verse this unit is 2 Corinthians 7:10. Can you and your child learn it together?

Opportunities to Serve

Kids Ministry is blessed with an amazing team of Jesus-loving leaders, but sometimes they need a substitute, and we would like to build up our sub pool. If you are interested in stepping in on occasion as a leader, co-leader or nursery volunteer, email Ashley for details.

Blessings!
