9th - 12th grade: Week of Jan 17, 2022

by Myles Hanson on January 18, 2022

Hey families! Another week of Loving God, Loving Others, and Making Disciples is here. I'm excited to partner with you and your family to ask God to intervene for our students!

JAN 19 | 8-8:45 PM

Wednesday night is the student led, weekly Bible study run by Elyse Stenholtz. They're in the book of Hebrews challenging each other to grow in their faith and sticking in Scripture together. They're meeting from 8:00 to 8:45pm in the High School Room and it's open to any and all high school students. No preparation needed, they just need to show up!

JAN 23 | 9-10 AM

Sunday morning we're going to look at some tips for reading the Bible. We could all use a few refreshers on this ancient book and how we handle it in our studies. This will be a good set up for our Immerse Bible study that starts the following week. We'll be reading through the four Gospels over eight weeks together in small groups. See them there!

JAN 23 | 6:30-8 PM

Sunday night we are continuing our look at the mystery of the Gospel. We looked at a few ways why God is awesome last week, this week we unfortunately have to look at how not awesome we are. Sin is the most serious pandemic we've faced as a species since Adam and Eve and none of us are exempt. The goal of this time through the Gospel is to help our students be able to talk about these things with friends and family. Would you ask your student about these discussions and help them practice talking about the Gospel with others?

FEB 14 | 5:45-8 PM

There's a Date Night here at Oakwood on Valentine's Day for our parents here at Oakwood. The middle and high school groups are going to do some childcare that night to serve our families! If your student is interested in hanging out with elementary school kids from 5:45 - 8:00pm February 14th, let me know!

WINTER RETREAT: FEB 18-20

And from February 18 - 20th we're going to be going on Winter Retreat with another youth group! We'll be at Camp Awana here in Wisconsin. We'll do fun winter activities, worship and participate in chapel, stay in cabins, and make new friends. It's $120 for travel, lodging, food, and fun and we'd love to have your student come along! Sign ups are here!

I'm praying for you and your family asking God to reveal Himself to you all. See you soon!
