Advent Conspiracy 2020

Posted by on

What is Advent Conspiracy?

Advent Conspiracy was founded on the radical idea that we can celebrate Christmas humbly and generously. Advent is the story of a wondrous moment when God entered our world to make things right. It is the greatest story ever told and it changes everything- including how we celebrate Christmas.

Christmas begins and ends with Jesus

Free up resources to support what matters

Give more intentionally and relationally

Radically love others like Jesus did

How do we participate in Advent Conspiracy?

This year, Oakwood is supporting its Community Partners by gathering a generous volume of donations to bless one organization each month from Oct. 2020 - Jan. 2021.

Pray and consider how God wants you to give during this effort. Then, collect donation materials and bring them to Oakwood each Sunday and place them in the display in the upper lobby. You can also drop off donations during the week to the Oakwood office. Gerrylynn Ferguson, our Community Partnerships Director, will deliver the donations at the end of each month (let her know if you'd like to help!).

Other Partners

While the four partners above are featured each month during Advent Conspiracy, we support several other Community Partners and special ministries. We will highlight a few partners at specific points throughout Advent Conspiracy, but we encourage you to pray for these ministries and engage with them throughout the year.

Exploit No More (Oct. 21-24)

The Exploit No More (ENM) mission is to end sex trafficking in the Greater Milwaukee Region. Look for the ENM Elevated Chef food truck at Oakwood during the Divine Consign sale Oct. 21-24. You can also order items for ENM Freedom House culinary program students or give a financial gift.

Lace Up 5K Run/Walk (Nov. 1-7)

Each year Oakwood's Mission: Hope ministry hosts the Lace Up 5K Run/Walk. This year it's virtual! Register to run or walk anytime between Nov. 1-7 to bring hope to orphans and foster children.

Operation Christmas Child (Sept. 29-Nov. 8)

Pick up a shoebox to fill with gifts for children around the world. They'll also receive the message of the Gospel courtesy of Samaritans Purse. Boxes are located in the lower lobby. Return filled boxes to Oakwood by Sunday, Nov. 1 or Sunday, Nov. 8.

Prayerfully consider giving a special gift to one or several of these ministries led by friends in our Oakwood community:

Connect with Gerrylynn Ferguson, Oakwood's Community Partnerships Director, or Marcus Constantine, our Groups and Prayer Pastor, with any questions.
