Kids: Week of May 6, 2024

by Ashley Schmidt on May 06, 2024

Sunday, May 12

Kids will learn from Acts 15-18 when Paul and Silas started churches. I love the visual map that is in the older kids’ activity page this week. It shows where Paul and Silas started churches. Share this visual with your kids and see if they can solve it and learn a little along the way.

Offering Update

Only two weeks left for the Esperanza Viva Orphanage offering project! If kids collect $180, the mission team will be able to have a special ice cream party with the kids in the orphanage! We are so close to this goal with about $20 to go.

Upcoming Events
  • Thursday, May 16 | Love and Logic Parenting Class | For all parents/guardians, not just moms. $10/person. Sign up here.
  • Sunday, May 19 | Kids Singing in Church | Practice this song and grab a printed copy of the words at the Kid Min Desk. Consider allowing your child to stay and sing for both services (done around 10:45 a.m.)
  • Sunday, May 26 | Family Sunday | Childcare for kids age birth-2 | Worship together as a family – and try out the new busy bags for kids available next to the kids bulletins
  • Sunday, June 2 | Promotion Sunday | Kids will be “promoted” to the next grade level
Opportunities to Serve

I’d love to get together over a cup of coffee and chat about how you could help or you can email me to sign up or for more details.

Summer Sunday School Volunteers Needed!
This is a great time to allow our school year leaders time off to refresh or to try out serving in Kids Ministry. You could serve as little as twice a month!

  • Childcare is available for birth – 2-year olds each week. Volunteers are needed to care for, play with, and read to these little ones.
  • Programming is available for 3k-5th grade June and July (off July 7th). Volunteers are needed as lead teachers, assistants, large groups leaders, and at check ins.

July 31 is Kids Camp! Volunteers are needed!

  • Small Group Leaders | Be “homebase” for a specific group of girls or boys and get to connect and guide kids through discussions throughout the day.
  • Special Leaders | Do you have a special hobby or gift you would like to share? Specials are similar to “breakout sessions” or “workshops” where leaders walk kids through an activity (baking, crafting, sports, games, experiments, etc) that you plan and tie into camps’ theme: Scuba – diving into friendship with God.
  • Small group assistants, Special assistants, and floaters are also needed!
  • Middle and high school students can apply to be CIT’s (counselor in training). Applications due to Ashley or Chris by June 30.
